Better Screenshot for OBS Studio is a simple plugin that makes taking and sharing screenshots way easier.

Instead of saving huge PNG files like OBS normally does, it lets you use JPG or WebP to keep file sizes much smaller without losing noticeable quality.

You can:
  • Take screenshots with a custom hotkey
  • Choose the format and quality
  • Save them to a specific folder
  • Automatically send them to Discord with a webhook
In short: it saves space, saves time, and lets you instantly share screenshots without leaving OBS.

Latest reviews

I was hesitant because this plugin had zero reviews, but I figured someone has to be the first so I bit the bullet. It's perfect. This is exactly what I needed to take screenshots to a specific folder synced to cloud storage. I set it to JPEG to reduce file size but you have several options.

The greatest thing, which I wouldn't have thought of myself, is every screenshot is ALSO saved the standard OBS way in your recording folder! You also have the option to delete that PNG after the JPEG is saved.

The UI is also really clean and simple and you assign a hotkey with the built in OBS hotkey list. The only suggestion I would make is choosable JPEG quality.

I have been wanting a screenshot plugin like this for years, and was about to start learning how to program OBS plugins just to make one, but this saved me the trouble!
